Tips for getting the most out of your boudoir experience & how to prepare

Preparing for a boudoir photoshoot can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Here are some practical tips to help any client feel confident and ready for her session:

Before the photoshoot -

  1. Choose Your Outfits:

Select lingerie or outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Consider a variety of styles, such as bra and panty sets, bodysuits, corsets, and even an oversized sweater for a cozy look.

We will have your pre-shoot lingerie fitting before your photoshoot, this way we can make you feel comfortable and you will go into the day of your photoshoot knowing that you love what you’re going to wear!

  2. Practice Posing:

    • Be ready to be coachable! I will guide you through posing and emotion to help you connect with your body. So keep and open mind and be ready for coaching

    • Make sure to stretch! I will send you an email with a few stretches you can do prior to the photoshoot. I tell my clients that boudoir is like sexy yoga, and you’re truly going to get a bit of a workout!

  3. Hydrate and Moisturize:

    • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot to keep your skin looking fresh and glowing.

    • Moisturize your skin daily to ensure it looks smooth and healthy.

  4. Avoid Tight Clothing:

    • On the day of your shoot, avoid wearing tight clothing or underwear that can leave marks on your skin.

  5. Grooming:

    • Plan any waxing or shaving a couple of days before the shoot to avoid redness or irritation.

    • Avoid spray tans as they tend to look orange on camera and can sometimes look blotchy. Any desire to spray tan should be run by your photographer.

  6. Get Plenty of Rest:

    • Ensure you get a good night's sleep before your shoot to look and feel your best.

On the day of the photoshoot -

  1. Eat:

    • Have a light meal before your shoot to keep your energy up without feeling bloated.

  2. Bring any extra outfits you might want:

    • While you have total access to the client closet, if there is any jewelry or extras you want like a button down shirt or fishnets, make sure you bring those with you!

  3. Arrive On Time:

    • Give yourself plenty of time to get to the location so you can start the shoot relaxed and unhurried. However, we will be preparing the studio for you before your arrive, so do not arrive super early either.

  4. Communicate with Your Photographer:

    • Share any specific ideas or poses you have in mind with your photographer.

    • Discuss any insecurities or areas you’d like to highlight or de-emphasize so the photographer can adjust poses and lighting accordingly.

  5. Relax and Have Fun:

    • Remember, this experience is about celebrating your beauty and confidence. Trust your photographer and enjoy the process.

Following the shoot -

  1. Stay Hydrated and Moisturized:

    • Continue to drink water and moisturize your skin to maintain its post-shoot glow.

  2. Reflect on the Experience:

    • Take some time to reflect on how you felt during the shoot and any new aspects of your beauty and confidence you discovered.

By following these tips, you can help ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and empowering boudoir photoshoot experience.
